Makes approximately 3-4 dozen
Prep time 25 minutes

Things You Need

  • Mixing bowl
  • Cookie sheets
  • Wide bowl or pie plate for coating mixture
Snickerdoodles

Ingredients: Cookies

  • 1 cup shortening or margarine
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 t cream of tartar
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1 t salt

Ingredients: Coating

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 t Cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°
  2. Mix coating and set aside
  3. Mix together shortening and sugar until creamy
  4. Add eggs and mix
  5. Measure flour, salt, cream of tartar and soda and add to the creamed mixture
  6. Blend well
  7. Roll cookie dough into balls the size of a walnut
  8. Roll in the cinnamon mixture
  9. Place on ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart (leave room to spread)
  10. Bake 8-10 minutes
  11. Remove from oven as soon as the sides show any color
  12. Cool and serve

Optional

Serve with cold milk and enjoy.
