Fruit Cobbler

Simple and sweet

Prep time 5 minutes, baking time 35-45 minutes

Serves 12

Things You Need

  • 13 x 9 baking dish
Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 20 oz crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
  • 1 package or bag of frozen fruit (usually peaches, but could be strawberries, blueberries, etc.)
  • 1 box (12 to 16 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup coarsley chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 lb (2 sticks) melted butter or margarine

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°
  2. Pour pineapple into 13 x 9 baking dish
  3. Evenly add 3/4 of the package or bag of frozen peaches (or whatever fruit you are using)
  4. Evenly add the cake mix
  5. Add the rest of the frozen fruit
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top
  7. Sprinkle the sugar over that
  8. Dribble the melted flour as the last layer
  9. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes

Optional

Presents best when served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.


Trail Cobbler using Dutch oven

Prep time 3 minutes, baking time 25-45 minutes

Serves eight

Things You Need

  • Dutch oven
  • Campfire with good coals
  • Shovel, poker, or holder to put the Dutch oven in and out of the fire
Trail Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 can of fruit filling (peach, cherry, apple, etc.)
  • 2 to 4 T water

Directions

  1. Prepare campfire
  2. Mix yellow cake dough, but instead of eggs, use 2 to 4 tablespoons of cool water
  3. Pour fruit filling into Dutch oven
  4. Pour cake dough over this
  5. Put lid on
  6. Put in coals or oven
  7. Bake until done using toothpick method
  8. Let sit 20 minutes, then serve

Optional

Try chocolate cake mix with cherry filling.
