My Mother's Quick Lasagna

A family favorite

Prep time 15 minutes, baking 30 minutes

Things You Need

  • Frypan to brown the meat
  • Pot to cook the pasta
  • Baking dish
  • Oven and range for cooking
Quick Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 package Bow Tie noodles (Farfalle or Butterfly pasta)
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery chopped
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 2 cans pizza sauce
  • 1/2 lb cheese

Directions

  1. Boil and cook noodles
  2. Fry ground beef with onions and celery
  3. Pre-heat oven to 350°
  4. Add pizza sauce to drained noodles
  5. In a casserole dish, layer meat, noodles, then cheese
  6. Repeat layering until complete (two or three layers are good enough)
  7. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°

Optional

Goes well with steamed broccolli.


Our Family Version

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Bow Tie noodles (Farfalle or Butterfly pasta)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cans pizza sauce
  • 1/2 lb cheese

Directions

  1. Boil and cook noodles
  2. Fry ground beef
  3. Pre-heat oven to 350°
  4. Add pizza sauce to drained noodles
  5. In a casserole dish, layer noodles, meat, then cheese
  6. Repeat layering until complete (two or three layers are good enough)
  7. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°

Optional

The original recipe includes onions and celery which we omit. We also use more noodles and much less meat.
