French's Version

Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 can Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/8 t pepper
  • 2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) any style Del Monte® green beans
  • 1 1/3 cups French's® Fried Onions

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Stir the soup, milk, and pepperin a 1 1/2-quart baking dish
  3. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup Crispy Fried Onions
  4. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until hot
  5. Top with the remaining 2/3 cup onions
  6. Bake for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown

Optional

I add one small can of water chestnuts. I buy the sliced ones and cut them again so they are slivers. Diced water chestnuts can work too.

Test Kitchen Tips:

  • For a kick of spice, double the black pepper in this recipe to 1/4 teaspoon and prepare as directed.
  • To feed a crowd, double the recipe and prepare in a 13x9-inch baking dish. Use an entire 6-ounce container of Crispy Fried Onions, reserving 1 1/3 cup for the topping. Increase cooking time to 40 minutes or until heated through.

Campbell's Version

With soy sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 can Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 t soy sauce
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 4 cups cooked cut green beans
  • 1 1/3 cups French's® Fried Onions

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Stir the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 2/3 cup onions in a 1 1/2-quart casserole
  3. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling
  4. Stir the bean mixture
  5. Sprinkle with the remaining onions
  6. Bake for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown

Optional

Recipe Tips: For the cooked green beans: Use 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) green beans, drained, about 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans or 16 to 20 ounces frozen green beans, thawed, for this recipe.
